WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

FreeMinorAfrica is a non-governmental initiative based in Barcelona and Denia. Our aim is work with juvenile incarcerated in African prisons.
Fernando, from Barcelona, is focussing the project in Sierra Leone.

Current Campaign: "SPOTLIGHT ON SIERRA LEONE"
The action program is  focusing   on minor from Pademba Road prison in  Freetown. Almost all the children I met in prison want to join the society, some dream of studying, finding a job and always leave that forsaken situation where they live. Give  them  an  opportunity.

FreeMinorAfrica
denounces:

  1. The imprisoning of minors in inhuman conditions, especially in Freetown

  2. The handing down of long and harsh sentences for minor offences

  3. The lack of adequate legal guarantees in the judicial processes of the local and magistrate’s courts.

WHAT ARE WE AIMING TO DO

- Offer  help  to young  incarcerated .

- Give  support  with  legal  assistance.

- All minor offenses that  request   for  a bail  we  will  try  to  cover and  avoid  prison.  Many  times a bail less  that  50 euros could  avoid  years in  prisons.

- Act in the  rehabilitation. We want  to  help them after  they  have  been  released,  to  stop them  from re-offending. In  case  that  they  don’t  have  families, we will  work  with  existing  local  structures   to  help  at  their  reintegration.
